About Lou McMahon


Lou McMahon is an indie folk artist from Co. Clare, Ireland. Lou is a passionate singer songwriter, her original material showcases a multitude of melodic riches in a vibrant package. Combining a haunting voice with thought provoking lyrics and beautiful melodies ''Lou McMahon is one to watch'' Danny McEllhinney, Associated Press – Irish Daily Mail.

Lou launched her career into the music publishing world in 2012 when ARC Music licensed her song ‘Wide Eyed Lady’ for placement on “The Ultimate Guide to Irish Folk”, spanning 30 years of Irish folk music. The Ultimate Guide to Irish Folk was voted “Compendium album for 2014” by Live Ireland newspaper and radio show.

Touring regularly throughout Ireland as a headline act and as an opening act for Jack L, in the autumn of 2015 Lou toured Europe too filling café style venues. Through the years she has performed as a support act to many influential Irish artists - Mundy, Mary Coughlan and Freddie White.

They call Lou a World Traveller, her thirst for travelling the globe with her songs resulted in the making of A RIVER music video and documentary. McMahon has performed in Canada, Australia, Europe and America to audiences who liken her voice to folk singers like Joan Baez and Stevie Nicks, and her quirky sense of expression to women like Kate Bush.

Lou McMahon A RIVER

Irish folk Artist Lou McMahon of Co. Clare, Ireland is releasing her music video for “A River”  in support of her upcoming EP titled Delicate Dancer. Along with the video, is a short documentary on how the video came to fruition with the chance meeting of Canadian Director Paul André Fortin. The upcoming EP, which is scheduled for release January 3, 2017 has a track titled “Wide Eyed Lady” featuring celebrated musician and fellow Irishman Terry Woods of The Pogues as Producer.

McMahons vocals are as angelic and pure as her Irish roots.  She follows in the footsteps of Irish leading ladies like Nina Persson of The Cardigans and Dolores O’Roirdan of The Cranberries but with a stronger deep contemporary folk delivery. Ireland has embraced the Music of McMahon by publishing one of her songs on the Award-Winning compilation “The Ultimate Guide to Irish Folk”. The Apprentice, a national Irish TV show featured McMahons performance of “A River”. The song was selected to be the first track on their music compilation that was distributed with the Irish Mail newspaper. Her music has been accepted on national radio stations like Dublin City FM, BBC radio, RTE Radio and more.  Besides The Apprentice, McMahon has performed  live on National televisions shows like An Samhradh Linn and Ireland AM.

McMahon is now focusing on capturing U.S. audiences by enticing them with the release of  “A River” music video  as well as  “A River Documentary” which details the story behind the song and the footage.
