• Make Your Choruses 'POP'

Hey, guys! We wanted to share some songwriting and production tips on how you can really get the hooks/choruses to your songs to stand out and grab the listener's attention. Songs with great and catchy choruses are usually songs that turn out to be the best hit singles! Here are 5 tips to help your choruses pop:

    1. Adjust the EQ to make the sound stand out.

If you make slight adjustments to the EQ of your vocals (best to adjust the highs), your chorus will seem to pop or stand out more than the verses. Try not to change anything too much or you might mess up the mixing process.

    2. Pan multiple layers of vocals to give a fuller effect.

If you have an anthem-like song, try doubling your vocals more than usual and panning them to create a full chorus effect.

    3. Change your energy level.

Get a bit more excited, or mellow down for your chorus to switch the vibe of your song. This is a great advantage to rappers since there isn't usually much melodic direction to their vocals.

    4. Use minimal words.

Try to write words that will get stuck in someone's head easily without being too basic.

    5. Use a simple and easily memorizable melody.

For singers, also try to write melodies that will get stuck in someone's head easily without being too basic.

Feel free to share ideas you use to boost your hooks as well!
